Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the assessment involve?

The assessment is thorough and is typically completed over two separate appointments, along with intake forms beforehand. This careful approach allows our clinical team to fully understand your history and present an accurate, well-supported assessment. Your intake coordinator will walk you through each step so you always know what to expect.

Are appointments virtual or in person?

Both options are available. Every part of the assessment can be completed virtually from the comfort and privacy of your own home, anywhere in Ontario. If you prefer to meet in person, that can be arranged as well — whichever feels most comfortable for you.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is required. You can reach out to our intake team directly and we'll guide you through everything from there.

What mental health conditions can be assessed?

Our clinical team assesses all mental health conditions. The most common ones we see among Veterans include PTSD, depression, anxiety, and operational stress injuries, along with other trauma-related conditions. If you're unsure whether your situation applies, reach out and we'll be glad to help clarify.

Will I receive a copy of my report?

Yes. You're welcome to request a copy of your clinical assessment report at any time. We believe in full transparency — you should always know what documentation has been prepared on your behalf.

How long does it take to complete my report?

In most cases, your assessment and report are completed within four to six weeks. Our team prioritizes timely, thorough work and will keep you informed of expected timelines throughout the process.

What happens after my assessment is submitted to VAC?

Once your completed assessment is submitted, Veterans Affairs Canada reviews it and makes a determination on your claim. We'll explain what to expect during this stage and remain available to answer any questions along the way.

How much does a VAC assessment cost?

There is no cost to you. The assessment is covered, and our intake team will explain exactly how billing works before you book — so there are no surprises and nothing to pay out of pocket.

Do you offer support after the assessment?

Yes. As a full-service mental health clinic, we provide ongoing care after your assessment when it's appropriate, including therapy, neurofeedback, and psychedelic-assisted therapies. Once you're approved for your mental health assessment, you have access to benefits for therapy right away — and we'll help you navigate everything so you can begin care without delay.

Can I speak with someone before booking?

Absolutely. We encourage you to reach out with any questions before committing to anything. Our intake team is here to provide information, discuss your situation, and help you make an informed decision about whether a VAC assessment is right for you.
